The Hippie At Heart
As a kid, I remember designing clothes, along side my fashion-diva-designer mother, who wore Rudi Gernriche, Halston, and Yves St Laurent; I actually thought she was a movie star.
We lived in Manhattan, although California grown, and spent most of our weekends in my step-dads rag-factory. I spent my time drawing peace signs, happy faces, hearts, words of love, and daisies all over my fabulous designs–I was seven at the time.
The Beatles, “Let It Be” album was just released; Bewitched, That Girl, The Sonny and Cher show were my favorite TV shows. David Cassidy was my heart throb, Elvis Presley was insanely sexy, and The Jackson Five had the beat.
After 40 years of acting, modeling, working as a make-up artist, fashion coordinating for Nordstrom, and representing cosmetics and hair care, I made up my mind to do what I love and that was creating fashion for the hip at heart.
In the last couple of years, I opened up a boutique selling woman’s fashion. The clients would always love the junior styles, but the clothes didn’t fit them.
That was the moment of my epiphany—“Creating fashion for the missy client with a Hip and Chic mentality.”
Who new at 40 something, I’d start my own business designing Retro-Chic fashion for my company, Hippietiques. Daisies, peace signs, and love are still my inspiration.
Hippietiques is a culture and a virtual destination for the bohemian fashionistas at heart.
I hope you enjoy the inspirations of the 60’s and 70’s as much as I do!
Peace, Love, and Joy to all.
